A warm supportive soak for hens

Buff Clucks HenSoak Herbal Healing Bath for Chickens

A mineral-and-herb bath blend created for gentle external cleansing, skin comfort and hands-on care of adult backyard hens.

½ Cup Per Bath
10–20 Minute Soak
Eight Natural Ingredients
About Six Full Baths

Gentle External Care When a Hen Needs Extra Attention

HenSoak combines Epsom salt with lavender, calendula, chamomile, arnica, yarrow, plantain leaf and rose petals. Added to comfortably warm water, the blend can help loosen dried debris and support gentle cleaning of feet, feathers and the vent area.

A soak also gives the caregiver time to inspect the hen closely. HenSoak is supportive external care—not a substitute for diagnosing or treating bumblefoot, vent gleet, wounds, infection or another medical condition.

Common Supportive Uses

🐾

Foot Soaks

Warm water may soften surface debris and make careful inspection and cleaning of a hen’s feet easier.

🪶

Dirty Vent Feathers

A short soak can loosen stuck material without pulling delicate feathers or scrubbing irritated skin.

🌿

Skin Comfort

The botanical blend is intended to complement gentle external cleansing and routine skin care.

🤲

Hands-On Check

Bath time offers an opportunity to examine feet, vent, feathers and skin for abnormalities that may require veterinary attention.

Directions

½ cup in warm water

Soak for 10 to 20 minutes. Each 15 oz bag makes approximately six full baths.

How to prepare a safe soak

  1. Use a clean, stable basin large enough for the hen to sit comfortably.
  2. Add enough warm—not hot—water to cover only the area being soaked. Test it on your inner wrist.
  3. Mix in ½ cup of HenSoak.
  4. Support the hen securely and keep her head above water at all times.
  5. After 10–20 minutes, pat her completely dry with a clean towel.
  6. Keep her in a warm, draft-free area until fully dry.
Never leave a bird unattended in water. Stop immediately if she struggles excessively, becomes weak, chills, pants, closes her eyes abnormally or shows breathing difficulty.

Soak-Time Guide

Dirty Vent Feathers

Approximately 10–15 minutes to soften buildup, followed by gentle rinsing and thorough drying.

Foot Care

Approximately 15–20 minutes for supportive cleansing. Bumblefoot still requires assessment and an appropriate treatment plan.

General External Care

Approximately 10 minutes when a bath is appropriate and the hen can tolerate handling safely.

Vent Irritation

Approximately 10–15 minutes for gentle cleaning. Determine why the vent is dirty, swollen or irritated rather than relying on repeated bathing alone.

Package and Storage

Package Size

15 oz (425 g) resealable pouch; approximately six full baths at ½ cup per soak.

Storage

Reseal after use and store in a cool, dry location away from moisture and direct sunlight. Use within 12 months of opening and keep away from children and household pets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is HenSoak a treatment for bumblefoot?

No. It is a supportive external soak that may help soften debris and prepare a foot for inspection and cleaning. Bumblefoot is an infection that can require veterinary treatment, wound care and changes to perches or bedding.

Can HenSoak cure vent gleet?

No. A bath may clean soiled feathers, but vent gleet and similar symptoms can have several causes. Persistent discharge, odor, swelling, straining or recurrent soiling should be evaluated by a poultry veterinarian.

Can I use HenSoak on chicks?

Buff Clucks formulates HenSoak for adult hens. For a chick with pasted vent, use plain warm water and gentle cleaning. The manufacturer advises waiting until a bird is fully feathered and older than eight weeks before introducing HenSoak.

Can other poultry use HenSoak?

The manufacturer states that it may be used for most poultry at the same dilution. Monitor closely for skin sensitivity and consult an avian or poultry veterinarian when treating an illness or injury.

Can a chicken drink the bath water?

No. HenSoak is for external use only. Keep the bird’s head above water and prevent drinking. Provide fresh drinking water separately.

Can HenSoak be used with medication?

Ask the treating veterinarian. An external soak may sometimes be used as supportive care, but it must not replace prescribed medication or interfere with bandages, topical treatments or wound-care instructions.
